***WEBSITE UPDATE***
Look for the 64th Annual FPF Convention Trip Report to be posted under the Member Relations heading. In the meantime the 25th Annual FPF Legislative Conference Trip Report is posted. These Trip Reports inform you, the union members, as to the business conducted, status of legislation/resolutions, issues discussed, and note worthy news taking place at these events and through the state. Although nothing replaces the actual experience of being there, these reports can educate everyone as to the progress of our state and international organization. If you are interested in educating yourself first hand by attending one of these trips, attendance and participation in Local 3516 events is strongly encouraged. For any questions, please contact one of your e-board members.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
Fire fighters and police officers risk their lives every day to protect the public; they deserve the same right to discuss workplace issues with their employer that the federal government grants to most other workers.
Legislation granting fire fighters and police officers minimum collective bargaining rights was recently introduced in the House by Representatives Dale Kildee (D-MI) and John Duncan (R-TN) as H.R. 980, the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act, and will soon be reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Judd Gregg (R-NH) and Ted Kennedy (D-MA). The bills establish minimum standards for state collective bargaining laws.
On July 17, 2007, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to pass H.R. 980. To read more, click here: House Passes Collective Bargaining Bill
